It will occupy the former Express store space and also space next to it where Ann Taylor was. The new store will extend all the way to Lord & Taylor, said Melissa Eigen, Danbury Fair marketing manager.
A sign signals the pending arrival of H&M which is posting job ads for many different positions on Indeed and other employment sites.
H&M located on the mall's lower level by Sears closed in 2014 at the mall on Backus Avenue.
Eigen said the new store will be large occupying 20,650 square feet.
"We're very excited to welcome H&M back," he said. "It's a highly requested retailer at Danbury Fair. The clothes are very trendy They have work styles, office styles, and casual clothing for males and female."
H&M will be double the size of Express in the same location.
The mall has been going upscale in recent years but also appeals to other markets.
"We have a wide range of retailers, from Anthropologie to Lulu Lemon, and the Apple Store, and at the different end of the spectrum. We have something for everyone," Eigen said.
